Business Leadership Training Classes: The Importance of Organizational Leadership

Organizations are built on leadership and when there is good leadership in place, a company will succeed in all activities that it undertakes, retains employees and experiences growth. In fact, no company or organization can survive and thrive in the lack of efficient organizational leadership.

One of the key elements in organizational leadership is maintaining a delicate balance between understanding employee needs and organizational goals. An organization with the right leadership elements will have employees whose are satisfied with working in the organization and who feel that their work has contributed to organization growth. It must treat its employees as the most vital part of the entire system and instead of just a workforce it must treat them like assets.

There are two types of organizational leadership structure. One type is horizontal leadership, in which there is an open-door policy that allows subordinates to voice their opinions. The other type is vertical leadership, wherein subordinates are encouraged not to question anyone's authority. They are made to hear and obey commands. Often it is the vertical leadership structure that is seen to be implemented in most organizations, but recently we can witness the mixed type of system for the mutual growth and benefits.

However, there are advantages and disadvantages of both the systems, but depending upon the exact nature and scope of the organization proper system needs to be implemented. No matter, what type of leadership system has been implemented in the organization, there is always a constant need for regular evaluation of organizational leadership so that there is proper growth and organizational goals can be achieved efficiently. It is necessary to check if the leadership structure implemented is appropriate one. For example, an authoritative type of leadership would not work in the marketing department, as it would go against creative influences that are needed in this work arena, but it would be more appropriate or perfect in the military.
