Proven Leadership Skills

The Leadership Training Institute offers classes that teach participants to confidently use proven methods of management leadership to lead people and help them plan, organize and control their work assignments. Class participants will also learn to use resources made available to them more effectively.

On-Site Classes: can be tailored to the needs of client organization and delivered on-site at time and location of client choice.

Class Objectives:

At the 90-day post-class assessment, participants will have:

  • Demonstrated (on the job) an understanding that the intuitive style of leadership (self-centered, directive) will only work in special circumstances and will have made noticeable improvement in working themselves toward a management leadership style (participatory, empowering)
  • Spent more time "leading and managing" and less time "doing"
  • Used the action planning process to plan and implement at least one important initiative that has a positive impact on business results
  • Used the decision-making technique on the job to arrive at sound decisions that have or will have a positive impact on business results
  • Demonstrated greater ability to function in teamwork situations
  • Developed and successfully used a system of control by exception

The Essence of Leadership Class

Many people desire the title of leader but have little or no understanding of what this calls them to become. Leadership is not a game of poker neither is it something you can play with. Leadership shapes the atmosphere and culture of an organization. The poorer the leadership, the less effective the organization becomes. Good leadership means having an understanding of their roles and responsibility. They are sold out to the mandate of leadership such that nothing else can take them off course. I have concluded that even though leadership traits can be found in many people, not all people are leaders. Some people who claim to be leaders surprise themselves when they assume the title because they cannot even lead themselves. They have hardships coming up with a road-map for their own lives let alone the lives of tens and hundreds of followers. The principle goes; that if you cannot take care of the small things, you should avoid experimenting with live bodies (leading people). We can tell your leadership style, qualities and experience in the way you lead your own wife and children. After all, they say charity begins at home. Below is a summary of what leadership entails.

Leadership means being a LEADER

L - Loves People (Locates people and Lifts them). Love is the underlying factor. Love will cause a leader to love the unlovable, Locate their weaknesses and Lift them to a higher level.

E - Example To People he/she leads (Also Encourages and Edifies and gives Exposure). A leader is a role model for his/her followers. People do what they see the leader do not what they hear him/her say. A leader should encourage and edify followers to do bigger and greater things. A leader should expose his/her followers to new things, new standards, and new levels of doing business

A - Accepts People as they are (Also Advises and Administers). If you cannot accept where people are at, you will not be able to work with them, sharpen them to become better people. A leader is an Adviser, someone that followers Admire. He/she should be able to Administer the followers to know where they are at in life and in their professions.

D - Disciples the People he/she leads (also gives Direction and models Determination) - Followers are not always easy to handle. A leader instills Discipline and shows people the Direction the organization is going. A leader is a Driver of a vision hence people look up to the leader for vision casting and roll-out.

E - Empowers Subordinates (Also Educates and Equips) - It is the role of a leader to ensure that the people he/she is leading are growing in knowledge and responsibility. A leader should be able to teach and Equip the people to become good leaders too.

R - Relates With the People being led (Reforms their thinking, Rewards good performance) - Good leaders relate with all people being led. You cannot effectively lead people when you are unreachable. A leader who is Reachable does so much more and he/she can solve people issues in a shorter space of time.
