Management and Leadership Training Workshops

Proven Leadership Skills

The Leadership Training Institute offers workshops that teach participants to confidently use proven methods of management leadership to lead people and help them plan, organize and control their work assignments. Workshop participants will also learn to use resources made available to them more effectively.

On-Site Workshops: can be tailored to the needs of client organization and delivered on-site at time and location of client choice.

Workshop Objectives:

At the 90-day post-workshop assessment, participants will have:

  • Demonstrated (on the job) an understanding that the intuitive style of leadership (self-centered, directive) will only work in special circumstances and will have made noticeable improvement in working themselves toward a management leadership style (participatory, empowering)
  • Spent more time "leading and managing" and less time "doing"
  • Used the action planning process to plan and implement at least one important initiative that has a positive impact on business results
  • Used the decision-making technique on the job to arrive at sound decisions that have or will have a positive impact on business results
  • Demonstrated greater ability to function in teamwork situations
  • Developed and successfully used a system of control by exception

Management Workshops and Leading by Example

Over my working life I've noticed that the organizations I worked for were run very strictly. Many rules and uniforms and regulations. Time and clock on and clock off were strict too. A strict system of who was in charge and who spoke to who in turn.

These environments made me very uncomfortable because while growing up I was always encouraged to become flexible and comfortable working with all kinds of people. I called my teachers by their first name. I even knew others who called their parents by their first names! (This was a bit much for me though!)

These restrictions can often create a less creative environment where people can stagnate. It's certainly not the kind of environment where ideas are shared with free will and new thoughts are exchanged amongst the ranks.

The working environments I strive to create now in my management life are ones where everyone is taken as a valuable member of a community with a common goal. Many common goals in fact. People are free to voice their ideas, and compare wisdom they've learned. Formal work life and home life becomes a blur and many times either work is done at home, or fun home tasks are brought to work.

Because new ideas are the best way to grow a business I consider it of utmost importance that these free exchanges are encouraged. In fact, I insist that each and every person come up with new thoughts every day. They are taught to teach others how they do their own jobs, so the entire system becomes understood by everyone, not just specialists in each area.

The freedom of this management approach has been its own reward, and the pay off has been a more productive and happy workplace. I encourage everyone out there to get less formal, and relax at work. You'll be more productive and you'll have more fun!
