Management Seminar: Increase Your Employees' Motivation Levels

One management secret to great performance when running a company is to keep your employees energized. This can be done by increasing your employees' level of motivation.

Motivation plays a huge role in production and, in the long run, the success of the company. In fact, the motivation level of the leader or the management of a company is a critical key to the success of any venture, whether it is a social project or a business.

When people are motivated, they're more creative. They are energized to do their jobs and are not easily frustrated. Individuals who have high levels of motivation will be able to better focus on tasks and to take on new tasks without hesitation. It is these people that are sometimes called workaholics because they seem to have a continuous stream of energy to their jobs.

This is why management often attempts to motivate their people through various management techniques. There are some who offer monetary rewards while there are others who keep it simple and subtle by promoting employees. But there are other ways to motivate people besides the promise of more money or a higher position. Here are just a few of them.

1. Praise them

Words of praise, especially coming from the manager or the boss, are incomparable rewards that people will always treasure. Consider that people wish to be respected and recognized for their work. When they are praised by the people that they think of as their leaders or those that they respect, they'll be in a position to perform better. They will likewise be happier and their confidence levels will go up. Positive people are more energetic and are more creative because they are more trusting of their own abilities. They aren't afraid to be vocal about their ideas and aren't afraid to take risks.

2. Give them face time

Who doesn't want to speak with the boss? Giving time for a little chit chat with your employees will provide them with a sense of belonging in the firm. It will also ensure they more amenable to your decisions. You should foster an open environment in your office where people can go to you and say anything they want without fear of censure. This is actually great for small companies who are still beginning and are in need of fresh ideas.

3. Involve them in decisions

Another method to motivate your employees is to let them have a vote. This is especially true for major management decisions that will involve them or which will affect their lives. It's essential that you too ask them what they think. Giving them the ability to say their piece and to have a voice will provide them a sense of ownership of the business enterprise, and we know that people tend to perform better and do more about problems they own. Make the company your employees'. Create that feeling of belongingness and oneness. You'll have a smoothly operating business.

4. Let others know

Posting achievements in a bulletin board or other internally public forum will give employees the motivation to strive more. Some will view it as a competition, others will merely appreciate the recognition and prestige. Let everyone know about what other people are achieving or have achieved. It will set a good example that others will soon be following.
