Proven Leadership Skills

The Leadership Training Institute offers classes that teach participants to confidently use proven methods of management leadership to lead people and help them plan, organize and control their work assignments. Class participants will also learn to use resources made available to them more effectively.

On-Site Classes: can be tailored to the needs of client organization and delivered on-site at time and location of client choice.

Class Objectives:

At the 90-day post-class assessment, participants will have:

  • Demonstrated (on the job) an understanding that the intuitive style of leadership (self-centered, directive) will only work in special circumstances and will have made noticeable improvement in working themselves toward a management leadership style (participatory, empowering)
  • Spent more time "leading and managing" and less time "doing"
  • Used the action planning process to plan and implement at least one important initiative that has a positive impact on business results
  • Used the decision-making technique on the job to arrive at sound decisions that have or will have a positive impact on business results
  • Demonstrated greater ability to function in teamwork situations
  • Developed and successfully used a system of control by exception

Leadership and Management Skills Training - Making Sure Your Employees Are Prepared to Lead

Leadership and management skills are different for every leader within a company. Some people are better at leading people to new ideas and ways of doing things, while others are better at conflict resolution, employee engagement and performance management, and other areas. It is important that any company has people with qualified leadership abilities in order to become successful. At any level of leading or management, there needs to be a sense of selflessness and an ability to focus on creating solutions based on what is best for the company, not for the individual. They need to have teamwork skills and be able to deliver constructive criticism without coming off too harsh or simply telling people that they are terrible at their job.

You need to make sure that you find people with natural leadership skills before you put them into a management position. You can find leadership coaching and development to hone those skills, but you should never utilize someone with no skills or desire as a leader unless you have no other options. In many cases, it's often better to outsource your hiring than promoting from within if you have no one who is suited to do the job. Some people are leaders and some are followers, but there are very few people who can be both. Followers who were meant to lead will work hard and move themselves up the chain of command quickly. Leaders who were meant to follow will likely fail at their goal of leading a group, team, or organization.

Having the right leadership skills varies depending on the type of company that someone works for. Of course, empathy, decisiveness, selflessness, fair attitudes, ability to accept mistakes, and the drive to succeed and make a difference for the company are all going to be important no matter which industry you are working in. There are so many things that make a good leader, but you will want to make sure that you choose people who can be great leaders for your company's management organization.
