At the 90-day post-course assessment, participants will have:

  • Demonstrated (on the job) an understanding that the intuitive style of leadership (self-centered, directive) will only work in special circumstances and will have made noticeable improvement in working themselves toward a management leadership style (participatory, empowering)
  • Spent more time "leading and managing" and less time "doing"
  • Used the action planning process to plan and implement at least one important initiative that has a positive impact on business results
  • Used the decision-making technique on the job to arrive at sound decisions that have or will have a positive impact on business results
  • Demonstrated greater ability to function in teamwork situations
  • Developed and successfully used a system of control by exception

Leadership Development Course - It's Not Born But Can Be Developed

A community, a country or a society needs always a leader to drive them towards success and achieve their goals in precise. Leadership reflects individual and personal characteristics in the mind which determines qualities or straits of a person to distinguish himself or herself from the others in that particular group or team. There are no barriers or obstacles to become a successful leader other than one's own mind. Leadership is not born. One can develop the leadership with clear objectives and goals that is governed by the vision he or she has in their mind for the whole group concerned. Therefore Leadership should always be a group oriented attitude or a characteristic of an individual. They should have some attributes and qualities to persuade the team effectively towards such goals.

It is important to understand that leadership is built on the pillars of strong foundation stones of your vision. The basic and most essential traits of these foundations are effective communication, establishment of planning, authority, integrity, learning ability, and courage. These are skills that can be practiced and developed to master in mind, for which you should have a stable and firm determination with a characteristic discipline.

Planning: The most successful leaders have optimistic plans towards achieving their goals for which they have a thoroughly screened road to drive their vehicle safely and effectively to the success. If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail. It is so vital that you have a clear picture of the objectives you are going to plan for your team. Your planning in this context should become the hub of your leadership qualities because the team members know well that you have guidance behind your objectives and are well prepared to reach the goals. SMART goals are essentially one of the best planning techniques. SMART reflects the five basic features of your goals. Your goals should be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time bound.

Authority: Leaders should be well understood that they are not the dictators and the team members are all human beings who needs guidance in terms of the specific achievement they are aiming at. They need security of ensuring their existence in any circumstances. You should build a close relationship and understanding with team members through effective communication. Then you can find out what your team actually needs from you. Establishing authority is vitally important to get the team to achieve good results through establishing rules & regulations where it is necessary. Leaders set a frame of safe environment to perform the tasks.

Communication: Effective communication is an essential part of leadership performance. Leaders should have a clear understanding about the communication process. Communication is a two way process in fulfillment of an effective relationship with the team members. It is vitally important that leaders are prepared to listen attentively for judgment and guidance of the group towards achievement of the objectives or the goals. Communication skills can be developed through knowledge and constant practice.

Integrity: True leadership cannot exist without integrity. Employees can learn from the guidance of business leaders many a lessons of business oriented factors leading to selling products, making machines, evaluation of performance etc. But still the most valuable and essential characteristic is the integrity in building reputation among the members. In this context the leaders must always be an example to their followers. They in return show their thrust and belief in the leader and the success in achieving the objectives and goals are inevitable.

Learning Ability: Knowledge is the principal force of the leaders driven to the others. This is a vital factor in performing the leadership because specific knowledge develops a reasonable human being. They can be more creative through their knowledge which reflects productivity in achieving the objectives and goals successfully. Learning provides an opportunity to reinforce the characteristics of leadership qualities.

Courage: This is a fundamental requirement of leadership. Leaders should have a very strong mind to perform amidst any obstacles or threats behind the corner of his place. Courage is a safety instrument in the form of providing assurance and strength to the group when a true leader determines to finish his tasks effectively and efficiently towards achieving the objectives and the goals. The most important factor in this context is the clear vision of the leader justifying the acknowledgement of the majority of members.

In conclusion it must be emphasized that the leadership can be learned through the personal qualities and traits of a true leader as expressed above. The most important factor to be concerned becomes the personality development in practice with your objectives to be a leader. There should be a clear purpose of serving your group or team with guidance and strength when it becomes the need of them to achieve the goals of the whole team. When your characteristic values and the performances are well deserved within the particular group of people who trust you, they will identify your leadership and then only you will be selected to be their leader.
